The Montgomery County Board of Education (MCBOE) is pleased to announce the finalists for the Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) superintendent position. The finalists for the MPS superintendent position have demonstrated strong leadership in their respective districts, bringing a range of expertise in educational leadership, student achievement, and district management.
Initial interviews will begin during the week of March 3, 2025. Additional details regarding the interview process and next steps will be shared soon.

Montgomery Public Schools' Office of Parent Engagement is hosting an upcoming February Parenting Meeting focused on co-parenting strategies. This session will provide valuable insights and resources to help parents navigate working together for the benefit of their children’s success. Four LAMPers have received Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Awards from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT).
From the NCWIT: "Each year, U.S. high school students in grades 9 through 12 receive recognition for their unique talents, aptitude, and aspirations in technology and computing. This year, 40 national winners and 360 honorable mentions were selected from over 3,700 exceptionally talented young applicants."

Montgomery Public Schools is proud to announce that S&P Global Ratings has upgraded our credit rating to A+, a significant improvement from the 'BBB+' rating in 2021. This upgrade reflects the hard work and strong financial stewardship by our leadership, staff, and community. The new rating will help us reduce borrowing costs, allowing us to secure better financing for future capital projects and invest more in our schools. Due to expected inclement weather on Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday 22, 2025, all MPS schools and offices will observe a virtual schedule. The district will be virtual on both days and all after-school activities, which include athletic events, will be canceled.
MPS students and teachers will follow virtual learning schedules. MPS employees will receive specific virtual work instructions from their direct supervisors.

Please note that Monday, January 20, 2025, MLK DAY, is an observed holiday for all MPS students and staff.


Congratulations to our 16 National Merit Finalists!


Seniors Rhea Rastogi and Irene Park were recently named as finalists in the Alabama Gorgas Scholarship competition for high school seniors. This opportunity is given to students who have completed scientific research projects.
Rhea Rastogi was also named a Top 40 Scholar in the Regeneron Science Talent Search which is a prestigious national science and math competition for high school seniors. In being named a Top 40 Regeneron Scholar, Rhea earned a cash prize for both herself and for her school to use towards STEM initiatives.
