A moment of pure joy! Third graders at King Elementary were all smiles Friday morning when they were surprised with tickets to the Alabama National Fair for achieving perfect attendance during the first nine weeks of school. 🎡✨

Governor Kay Ivey joined community leaders, MPS staff, and our scholars for a powerful 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. As guest speaker, the governor helped us honor the lives lost and the survivors of the 2001 terrorist attacks.
Our talented students also delivered moving tributes through song, performance, and reflection, reminding us all of the strength, resilience, and unity that continue to carry our nation forward. ❤️💙 #OurSchoolsOurCommunitiesOurFuture #TheresMoreWithMPS

THE TALE OF TWO BAND DIRECTORS 🎶
Carver High’s Brandon Williams and Percy Julian’s Marcus Rackley may lead rival bands today, but their musical journey started long before the rivalry.
Both are proud Alabama State University graduates and former tuba players with the Mighty Marching Hornets. After college, Williams (Class of 2004) directed at Selma High School while Rackley (Class of 2003) led at Keith High School both in Dallas County before eventually bringing their talents to Montgomery Public Schools.
This National Arts in Education Week, we celebrate the power of music, mentorship, and the educators who inspire the next generation of artists. 🖤💛
