Carver High’s Brandon Williams and Percy Julian’s Marcus Rackley may lead rival bands today, but their musical journey started long before the rivalry.
Both are proud Alabama State University graduates and former tuba players with the Mighty Marching Hornets. After college, Williams (Class of 2004) directed at Selma High School while Rackley (Class of 2003) led at Keith High School both in Dallas County before eventually bringing their talents to Montgomery Public Schools.
This National Arts in Education Week, we celebrate the power of music, mentorship, and the educators who inspire the next generation of artists. 🖤💛
