MONTGOMERY, AL — Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) was awarded a Special Initiatives Grant by the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) for Parent Training and Counseling Support. MPS will host three (3) parent engagement workshops to assist parents in understanding their child's special needs, providing information about child development, and helping them acquire the skills needed to support the implementation of their child's Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Participant stipends will be paid directly to parents and guardians of children with disabilities for participating in training with the following stipulations:

  • Paid participants must be the legal parent/guardian of a currently enrolled student with special needs

  • Paid participants must be on time and present for the entire length of the workshop

  • Paid participants must register for each session separately (only 25 participants per session; waitlisted participants will be contacted upon cancellations)

  • Participants will be paid $100.00 per session (only 1 stipend per household per workshop topic)

  • Paid participants may only attend one session time per date
