Montgomery Public Schools’ Child Nutrition Department has received national recognition for its outstanding commitment to student health and wellness. The department was recently awarded the Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service in partnership with Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK).

This prestigious honor celebrates school districts that have demonstrated exceptional efforts in improving the quality, nutrition, and appeal of school meals served to students. The award acknowledges the department’s efforts to elevate school nutrition across the district, including creative menu planning, student engagement initiatives, and a continued focus on healthy, locally inspired options.

MPS currently serves 25,266 students districtwide, providing nearly 16,000 lunches daily.

Montgomery Public Schools congratulates the entire Child Nutrition Department on this incredible achievement and thanks them for their continued service to the students and families of MPS.
