Capital Improvement Plan
Volkert Inc. to Host Community Forums for Capital Projects Plan
Construction program management firm Volkert Inc. will host community forums at Lee High School, 225 Ann St., on November 2, 2021, and Dannelly Elementary School, 3425 Carter Hill Rd., on November 4, 2021. The forums begin at 5:00 pm.
Volkert will engage stakeholders and receive input regarding new construction, renovations, and additions related to the Montgomery Public Schools capital projects plan. In August 2021, Volkert began facilities assessments and demographic studies on the district’s 52 schools. The firm will present the assessment report and results from the demographic study to the Montgomery Board of Education by the end of October. Volkert is committed to working collaboratively with and through the community at all stages of this process as they move forward over the next several years to improve outcomes for the district.
“We are one of the larger school systems in the state, and unfortunately, for quite some time, we have operated on the bare minimum of local funding, which is the state-mandated ten mills. We are incredibly grateful the Montgomery community rallied behind our school system and passed the ad valorem tax increase. This puts us in a position to actively work with Volkert to plan and design buildings conducive to productive learning environments, “shared Superintendent Dr. Ann Roy Moore.
Last November, the citizens of Montgomery passed the ad valorem tax increase, which will address much-needed building repairs, innovative learning programs for students, and additional resources for educators.
