The goal is to raise awareness among families, schools, and communities that consistent attendance is directly tied to student success—academically, socially, and emotionally.

SJES would like to give a huge Thank You to Mobile Heights Baptist Church for sponsoring this week's attendance challenge. We are proud to announce that our fifth graders were our winners! Kindergarten was right behind them missing it by a tenth of a point! Let's continue to work towards our attendance goal and let's see what grade level will be our winner next week.
Again thank you Mobile Heights Baptist Church for being this week's attendance challenge sponsors!

Attendance is one of the most important factors in a student’s academic success. When students are present and engaged in school each day, they have greater opportunities to learn, build strong study habits, and develop the skills necessary for their future. Consistent attendance ensures that students do not fall behind in lessons, miss important discussions, or lose valuable time needed for practice and growth.
Seth Johnson Elementary School has partnered up with some wonderful Partners in Education to help our scholars celebrate Attendance Awareness Month.

At our school, teaching doesn’t stop when the dismissal bell rings. Our dedicated teachers not only work tirelessly throughout the week to support, encourage, and challenge our scholars, but they also give of their own time on weekends to continue growing as professionals.
Through weekend professional development sessions, our teachers come together to learn new strategies, sharpen their skills, and collaborate on ways to make learning even more engaging and effective. This commitment is a true reflection of their passion for education and their unwavering belief in the success of every student.

This week, we're also celebrating and honoring the incredible nurses of MPS.
Our nurses have compassionate hearts and calm hands who care for our students daily. From bandaging scraped knees to managing chronic conditions, from comforting anxious hearts to supporting mental wellness, our school nurses do it all. And for that and so much more, we say THANK YOU, MPS NURSES!

We’re excited to share that our Keep the Beat event this Saturday has reached full capacity! While we’re a little sad we can’t fit everyone in, it’s a great sign of strong community interest and support. We’ll continue to monitor ticket requests and will send out an update if any spots open up.
Together, we’re raising awareness about the importance of regular school attendance and encouraging families to update their contact information.
See you all Saturday at 3:00 pm at the Multiplex!

We're TWO days away from our 'Keep the Beat' event at the Multiplex this Saturday! If you have tickets, make sure you share them with your family and friends.

Special shout out to Montgomery's District Attorney's Office for sponsoring a 5th grade mentoring program (I-Lead) this year! Our scholars learned so much and really enjoyed mock trials, role playing, and just learning about rules and laws. They ended a successful program with a field trip on the Harriott II.

NEW LOCATION! Multiplex at Cramton Bowl!
MPS is thrilled to announce that our students will have the chance to share the stage with Grammy Award-winning percussionist Sheila E. at the “Keep the Beat” concert on May 10 at the Riverfront Amphitheater from 3 pm to 6 pm hosted by Pastor Lee Walker of New Home Missionary Baptist Church and Mr. Terrance Baldwin, Founder of MEOW Academy!
Want to attend? MPS parents can receive up to four (4) tickets per student by updating their contact information in PowerSchool. Visit http://mps.k12.al.us

SJES Field Day 2025!

A time was had today at SJES Field Day! Shout out to Coach Brooks and all the parent volunteers, as well as Johnson's fabulous staff, for making today awesome. Our scholars had so much fun today. We even had a kickball showdown with the students versus the faculty!
