Good morning, Parents of Seniors,

The Alabama State Department of Education has released the ACT WorkKeys certificates. BTW scholars will receive their certificates by no later than tomorrow, January 13, 2026. Please be reminded that scholars that earned "bronze" certification will have to retake the assessment for deficient measures on February 25, 2026. If your Senior scholar earned silver, gold, or platinum certification, he/she will not have to retest and has earned credentials with ACT WorkKeys.

Please email me should you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ruffin

Good Evening, BTW Community,

It's SHOWTIME! There's no doubt, we are super excited about tomorrow's SHOWCASE 2026!

A few things for participating scholars:

Participating scholars will be out of uniform tomorrow as they will be wearing their attire for the show. Secondly, they should have not have book bags. Dancers may bring extra clothes, and the band scholar-artists must bring their instruments. There should be no Chromebooks, iPads, or cell phones. Participating scholar-artists must ride the bus to and from the Davis Theatre for the matinee show. The matinee show is for MPS middle schools and two elementary schools ONLY. We are asking all BTW parents, BTW community and partners, and Montgomery at-large to attend the 7:00 P.M. show.

Thank you to the scholar-artists, teachers, parents, director, FAME, and community for your unwavering support of this event and in all things, BTW!

See you tomorrow.

She walked these halls. Now she’s inspiring the next generation!
Academy award-winning actress and proud MPS alumna Octavia Spencer returned home to Highland Avenue Elementary to read her book, Detective Dell Is on the Case, to a group of eager kindergartners!

A huge thank-you to Ms. Spencer and Ello for providing copies of the book for our scholars to take home and continue building their love for reading and empowering them to believe they can achieve great things!

Good afternoon, BTW Families and Scholars,

ATTN: Showcase 2026 Participants

In an effort to ensure transparency regarding the expectations for rehearsals at The Davis Performing Arts Theatre, please see the following as they will be strictly enforced:

1. All participating scholars must dress in school uniform (you may bring your costume in a separate bag).
2. NO iPads are allowed. Phones will be checked and secured in YONDR pouches.
3. Sack lunches will be provided for all scholars. Scholars, you are at liberty to bring your own lunch; however, no meals will be delivered (this includes NO UBER EATS, DOORDASH, etc.). Parents should ensure lunches are provided before arriving to school as there will be no visitation at the Davis Theatre during rehearsals.
4. All participating scholars must ride their assigned bus (bus assignments were provided today).
5. A permission slip must be on file for each participating scholar.
6. The 2025-2026 MPS Student Conduct Manual and BTW Handbook will be used to govern all behaviors and concerns.

Preserving our relationship with the Davis Theatre is extremely important. We must continue to show our appreciation and remain of high standards during rehearsals at this venue. There will be an administrator on site for rehearsal tomorrow.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Excellence In All Things,

Dr. Ruffin

Dear BTW Families of Seniors,

Senior make-up photos will be on Jan. 21st on campus in the gallery. The sitting fee is $11 after taxes, and this will be just the formal image for the yearbook. Families will have the option of purchasing afterwards.

Ladies (scholars), please bring a tank top to change into and guys (scholars) please bring a t-shirt to change into for the tux. Ladies, if you are unable to wear tops off the shoulders due to religious purposes, you may bring a black t-shirt to change into rather than the tank top.

After portraits have been taken, scholars must return to wearing their school uniform attire.

Thank you,
