Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) is turning up the volume and bringing awareness to chronic absenteeism with a powerful, student-led performance thatโs sure to strike a chord in the community.
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Riverfront Amphitheater, MPS will present the โKeep the Beatโ concert, an energizing celebration aimed at raising awareness about the importance of daily school attendance and staying connected through up-to-date family contact information.
In a special twist, MPS is also working to team up with a celebrity guest, who will be revealed in the coming days.
โAs we wrap up this school year and begin planning for the next, itโs critical that families understand the impact of consistent attendance and that includes summer school,โ said Interim Superintendent Jamie Wilson. โJust as important is ensuring schools have accurate, up-to-date contact information so we can communicate with families. This concert is our way of thinking outside the box and bringing together students, families, and the entire community to enjoy a great event while hearing important messages, and most importantly, seeing our incredible students shine on stage.โ
In addition to the music and performances, the โKeep the Beatโ concert will highlight how families can stay connected by updating their contact information in PowerSchool, MPSโs official student information system. Accurate contact information allows schools to reach families quickly regarding absences, emergencies, and important updates.
โWe canโt stress it enough: updated contact info is essential,โ Wilson added. โWeโre asking parents and guardians to take just two minutes to visit our website and verify that their phone numbers, email addresses, and home addresses are current. If anything needs to be changed, itโs easy to update online or by contacting your childโs school.โ
