summer nutrition programs for kids

MONTGOMERY, AL — As the academic year draws to a close, Montgomery Public Schools is ensuring that student health and nutrition remain a top priority throughout the summer months. In partnership with the Alabama Child Nutrition Program (CNP), free SUN Meals will be available to all eligible children and teens ages 18 and under in our community.

The SUN Summer Nutrition Program is designed to fill the nutritional gap that often occurs when school is out of session, providing kids with access to the wholesome, balanced meals they need to return to school in the fall ready to learn.

"Healthy eating doesn't take a summer vacation," says Johnna Rembert-Beard, Director of Child Nutrition Services. "Our goal is to remove barriers to food security by making sure every child in Montgomery has access to fresh, nutritious meals all summer long, regardless of whether school is in session."
