Grandparents Day was a huge success at Dannelly Elementary! We had the pleasure of serving more than 300 grandparents, and the excitement throughout the school was truly special. Our students were thrilled to spend this time with their grandparents, and we were equally excited to welcome so many members of our Bulldog family.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make Grandparents Day such a fun-filled and memorable occasion. We look forward to many more opportunities to welcome our Bulldog families into our school!

As a reminder, Picture Day is Monday, September 28, 2026. Students who are purchasing pictures may dress in their own attire for Picture Day. Students who are not purchasing pictures should report to school in their regular school uniform.

Picture packages will be sent home tomorrow.

Thank you again for helping us make Grandparents Day a wonderful success. We appreciate our Bulldog families and all that you do to support Dannelly Elementary!

Dannelly Families,

We are excited to welcome our wonderful Bulldog grandparents tomorrow, Thursday, September 24, 2026, for our Grandparents Day Luncheon!

LUNCH WAVES

Pre-K–1st Grade: 10:00–10:45 a.m.
2nd–3rd Grade: 11:00–11:45 a.m.
4th–5th Grade: 12:00–12:45 p.m.

To ensure that everyone has adequate time to enjoy lunch with their grandchildren and to give our cafeteria staff an opportunity to recover and prepare the cafeteria between groups, we must adhere to the designated lunch wave times. Thank you in advance for helping us keep the day organized and enjoyable for everyone.

CHECKING STUDENTS OUT

If a grandparent plans to check their grandchild(ren) out of school following lunch, we must have a signed letter from the parent/guardian giving the grandparent permission to check the child(ren) out.

The letter must include:

Child(ren)’s name(s)
Grandparent’s name
Parent/guardian’s name
A good contact number for the parent/guardian
Parent/guardian’s signature
Date

For the safety of our students, children will not be released to a grandparent without the required written permission from the parent/guardian.

We look forward to seeing all of our wonderful BULLDOG grandparents tomorrow and celebrating this special day with you!

It’s National School Backpack Awareness Day! πŸŽ’
πŸ’‘Heavy backpacks can cause real back and shoulder strain. Keep these quick safety tips in mind:
βš–οΈ Keep loaded bags under 10–15% of your child's body weight.
πŸŽ’ Wear both straps to distribute weight evenly and avoid strain.
🚸 Choose bright colors or reflective strips for traffic safety.
Help your students lighten the load today! πŸ’™βœ¨

The graphic features bullet points on backpack safety: over 79 million U.S. students carry backpacks; heavy bags cause back and neck pain; doctors recommend bags weigh no more than 10-15% of a child's weight; using one strap causes strain; and reflective strips improve visibility in traffic. On the right, two circular photos show MPS students wearing clear backpacks. The Montgomery Public Schools logo is at the bottom.

Bulldog parents and guardians, your voice matters! We encourage every Dannelly Elementary family to take a few moments to complete the Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) Family Survey.

Your feedback will help our district better understand the needs, experiences, concerns, and priorities of our families as decisions are made about how we can best support students and schools.

πŸ“‹ Please take a few minutes to complete the MPS Family Survey. The more families who participate, the better our district can understand what is working well and where additional support or improvements may be needed.
