Montgomery, Ala. β The Montgomery Public Schools Board of Education has officially approved the 2026β2027 academic calendar, following significant input from families, students, and staff across the district.
The Board voted to approve the calendar during a special called meeting on Thursday, February 26. The approved option, Calendar Three, received the highest level of support from stakeholders during a districtwide survey.
Earlier this year, Montgomery Public Schools invited parents, students, and employees to participate in an online survey to help guide the calendar selection process. More than 3,000 stakeholders responded, demonstrating strong community engagement in an important district decision.
Calendar Three received 42.8 percent of the vote, making it the top choice among survey participants.
District leaders say the process reflects Montgomery Public Schoolsβ commitment to listening to the community and ensuring that stakeholder voices help shape key decisions.
βOur schools are strongest when our community is part of the conversation,β said MPS Superintendent Dr. Zickeyous Byrd. βThis calendar reflects the voices and input of the families, students, and staff we serve every day, and we appreciate the strong participation from our stakeholders throughout this process.β
The survey allowed stakeholders to review multiple calendar options and provide feedback before the final recommendation was presented to the Board of Education.
By incorporating community feedback into the decision-making process, Montgomery Public Schools continues its focus on transparency, collaboration, and engagement with stakeholders.
The newly approved 2026β2027 academic calendar is now available on the Montgomery Public Schools website and has been shared with families and staff across the district.
Montgomery Public Schools encourages families to review the calendar and begin planning for the upcoming school year.
