Every year, Operation Homefront hosts the Military Child of the Year® Awards. The awards are open to military children between the ages of 13-18. There are 7 recipients, 1 child from each branch of the services, and each recipient receives $10,000 CASH, a laptop, other donated goodies, and a 3-day trip to Washington, DC.
Children are entered by nominations. Anyone who knows a military child can nominate any military child. The awards are open to Active Duty, reserves, Gold Star, National Guard, AND retired military children. The program is entirely FREE and exclusive to military children.

Members of the Booker T. Washington Magnet High School Choral Department recently participated in the Dothan Cultural Arts Choral Festival in Dothan, AL. Scholar-artists competed against choral groups and soloists from across the southeast. BTW’s Concert Choir placed 3rd in Division 1. In addition, two scholar-artists competed in the solo competition where they had to perform a classical solo from memory and both took home 1st and 2nd place against all soloists in the entire festival, Madison Thomas and William Scott, respectively. Congratulations to our outstanding artists and to our Choral Director Artist, Mr. Williams, for their hard work and modeling of “Excellence in All Things”!

Next Thursday, November 13th, the BTW Theatre Department is hosting an interactive gala event to (hopefully) cover the cost of our lodging and transportation at the 2025 State Trumbauer Theatre Festival.

We invite you to join us for a night of mystery and music! Jay Gatsby's extravagant gala was meant to celebrate a mysterious business deal that promised to restore his fortune and win over Daisy Buchanan once and for all.
But as the night unfolds, secrets bubble to the surface: Money was stolen. Secrets were discovered, and lies caught in the glitter of the... sparkling grape juice. When Gatsby is found, everyone becomes a suspect.

Tuesday, November 4, 2025, is an Asynchronous Day for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders, as our 12th graders engage in the ACT WorkKeys Assessment. 9th-11th graders will need to check Schoology for their assignments. All 12th grader scholars will need to report to BTW by no later than 7:15 A.M on November 4. Chromebooks will need to be fully charged. 12th graders must follow directives from Dr. Elmore and Mrs. Tolliver for test prep. Parents, we need 100% of our 12th graders present for testing. WorkKeys is a very important state-mandated assessment.
