Good morning, BTW Families,

Tuesday, November 4, 2025, is an Asynchronous Day for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders, as our 12th graders engage in the ACT WorkKeys Assessment. 9th-11th graders will need to check Schoology for their assignments. All 12th grader scholars will need to report to BTW by no later than 7:15 A.M on November 4. Chromebooks will need to be fully charged. 12th graders must follow directives from Dr. Elmore and Mrs. Tolliver for test prep. Parents, we need 100% of our 12th graders present for testing. WorkKeys is a very important state-mandated assessment.

Thank you for your support of Excellence in All Things, BTW.

Sincerely,

Good morning, BTW Families,

Parents, if you would like your 11th grader to participate in the Saturday ACT Challenge (ELA & Math), it's not too late. Please have your scholar to stop by the front office for a permission slip from Mrs. Tyynismaa. Please ensure your scholar submits the permission slip to the teachers at bus pick-up. The bus will be at BTW @ 8:00 A.M. on Saturday, Nov 1, 2025, for pickup. Scholars that attended the last session should not complete a new permission slip form.

This is an amazing opportunity for our 11th grade scholars as they prepare to take the ACT in March 2026.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.

Best,

Dr. Ruffin

Montgomery Public Schools is opening its doors to families interested in exploring the district’s diverse magnet programs through a series of Magnet School Interest Information Sessions. These sessions will give parents and students an inside look at the specialized academic pathways, arts programs, and STEM opportunities that make MPS magnet schools some of the most dynamic learning environments in the region. Families will have the chance to meet program representatives, ask questions, and discover which school best fits their child’s interests and goals.

Attention BTW Families,

Safety and Prevention ALERT:

On tomorrow, Thursday, October 30, 2025, security and administration will begin conducting daily checks of our parking lots to ensure only registered vehicles are parked on our premises. We are also in the process of purchasing a gate for our scholars' parking lot, therefore, timely reporting is critical for student parking and the continuation of driving privileges. Scholars that drive must have their vehicles registered with a visible 2025-2026 BTW parking decal. Vehicles without a decal will be towed at the owner's expense.

Should your scholar need to purchase decal, please have him/her to do so with Ms. Bell after 2:45 P.M. We will not sell decals during instructional hours. In addition, please ensure your scholar has his/her ID daily.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep our campus safe.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ruffin

Good morning, BTW Parents,

Attention Parents of Scholar Drivers...

We are experiencing an influx of scholars reporting late and recording incorrect information on the designated/check-in check-out forms. These are legal documents and should reflect the correct demographic information of the scholar listed on the form. Scholars who are not able to show their IDs, follow rules for reporting to school timely, and falsifying documents will have their driving privileges suspended. Driving to school is indeed a privilege and must be addressed as such. Scholars who have been identified as falsifying such information are currently being suspended from driving.

Thank you for supporting your scholar in following the procedures and policies of Montgomery Public Schools and Booker T. Washington Magnet High School.

Regards,

Dr. Ruffin

Good morning, BTW Families,

We hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable weekend.

We are well into the 2025-2026 academic year and we are experiencing concerns with may scholars reporting out of uniform, without IDs, carrying inappropriate bags, and without YONDR pouches. In following the MPS Student Conduct Manual and the BTW Handbook, willful defiance is coded as a Class B offense and will be addressed as such. We are asking our BTW parents to support their scholars in following the district and school policies and procedures. Should your scholar need their ID or YONDR replaced, please visit MySchoolBucks.

It is also extremely important that your scholar is in homeroom by 7:40 A.M. daily. Please ensure scholars that drive are leaving home in enough time to arrive at school on time and safely.

We are very committed to ensuring our scholars remain safe at all times. Your support of the expectations and rules of Montgomery Public Schools and Booker T. Washington are appreciated.

Have a great day,

Dr. Ruffin

Greetings BTW Families,

We are moving into Week 3 of the second quarter, which means, Mid-term exams are coming soon. Please see the mid-term schedule below:

December 11, 2025 through December 18, 2025.

We anticipate posting final grades by the 19th.

Parents, please encourage your scholar to submit their work on time. Many of our current failures are due to non-compliance with the GPR as it relates to submitting work timely. We also strongly encourage parents and scholars to monitor grades in PowerSchool weekly.

Scholars, your performance on the mid-term exams matter. Let's stay ahead and stay engaged.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ruffin
