ATTN: Parents of scholars that are registered drivers...
In an effort to ensure we are following protocols and safety procedures for scholars that are registered drivers and must leave campus prior to dismissal for medical appointments, etc., please see the following:
1. Please call the office to make the request for your scholar's leave with Secretary Mrs. Tyynismaa or Attendance Clerk Mrs. Outlaw. Following, the designee will verify the necessary information accordingly.
2. Send a copy of the appointment slip and a copy of your identification via email to kristen.tyynismaa@mps.k12.al.us or nyree.outlaw@mps.k12.al.us
The aforementioned procedures must be followed and information verified before a scholar will be released. It is very important that the contact information in PowerSchool is correct for our verification processes.
Remember, we are here to SERVE, ensuring our scholars are safe at all times.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ruffin
I am resharing the BTW Handbook accordingly.

Is your scholar practicing for the ACT WorkKeys assessment?
ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system that measures foundational and essential soft skills, such as applied math, graphic literacy, and reading workplace documents, which are crucial for workplace success. Successful completion of the core assessments allows individuals to earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC), a widely recognized credential that demonstrates a person's readiness to employers and helps them with job selection, career advancement, and college opportunities.
Scholars can access the ACT Workkeys practice questions via Progress Learning, located in CLEVER.
Parents, this is a very important assessment. 12th graders in MPS will take the ACT Workkeys Assessment on November 4, 2025. We need our scholars practicing now.
Your support in pushing your Senior scholar to achieve Platnium Certification will make a difference!
Sincerely,
Dr. Ruffin
We will distribute progress reports on tomorrow, 9/11/2025. You may also view/review grades live in PowerSchool.
MTSS notifications for scholars earning less than 70 % in any course, will be shared with families by Monday, September 15, 2025. Parents, please encourage your scholar to submit his/her assignments timely to avoid an incomplete representation of academic progress.
Thank you for your support of Excellence in All Things, BTW!
Sincerely,
Dr. Ruffin

As we are preparing to assess our 10th Grade scholars using the PreACT, the attached Digitial Device Policy for the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program must be followed.
As a gentle reminder, the PreACT assessment will take place on September 30, 2025. Only Grade 10 scholars are to report to campus. This is a state-mandated assessment for all 10th graders. Scholars in grades 9, 11, and 12, are required to complete assignments asynchronously, as their activities will be posted in the Schoology Learning Management System.
