Speech and Language Pathology
Speech Therapy services are provided to students at Wilson Elementary School who meet the criteria set by the Alabama State Department of Education. Speech Therapy is an intervention service that focuses on improving a child's speech and ability to understand and express language. A parent or teacher can refer a student for a speech therapy evaluation if they are concerned that the child's speech is difficult to understand due to problems producing sounds correctly or if the student has problems with fluency/stuttering. They can also refer the student for an evaluation if the student's language skills, or their ability to understand and express language, appears to be delayed. The goal of speech therapy in the school setting is to work on improving communication skills so that your student can better participate in their academics and classroom activities.
