It’s a great day to be a Marlin!
Greetings T.S. Morris Family!
I am Tameka Shepherd, your principal, for the 2024-2025 school year!
I am approaching my fifteenth year in education. It is a blessing to say that my entire educational career has been with Montgomery Public Schools at Thelma Smiley Morris Elementary School. While employed at Morris, I served as a third grade teacher for seven years, lead teacher for one year, ARI Specialist for three years and assistant principal for the past three years. I am both elated and honored to be appointed to my very own school as principal, where I can continue my work with the students, staff, parents and community.
I pride myself on being a servant leader that focuses on building trust based relationships with my faculty and students to ensure that the culture and climate is a safe space and is conducive to learning for all. I am passionate about student achievement and professional growth. My philosophy on leadership is simple. I intend to develop a culture where students, teachers and staff would want to be a part of. I intend to create a culture where opinions are valued and change is constant. I am committed to demonstrating honesty and integrity and will consistently seek solutions that work in the best interest of our students, teachers and staff.
This year, It’s GAME ON! It’s time to Press P.L.A.Y (Provide purposeful Learning All Year) and power through a winning school year! With so many exciting new changes, I am confident that our scholars will be active participants in their own learning, be engaged, be motivated, be empowered, and determined to be the BEST version of themselves. This is our WINNING YEAR!
