    Sporting events can and should be opportunities for fun and fellowship in a family-friendly environment. We have a responsibility to do everything we can to ensure that these events are safe for everyone attending. That is why we are setting forth some guidelines.

    BREAKING NEWS...Magnet Office to Open Application Portal for Second Cycle

    On Monday, April 10th, the MPS Magnet Office offered a second opportunity to apply for available seats at BTW Magnet High School for the 2023-2024 school term. We have openings for grades 9-12.  Students must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.75 and an arts audition. 

    If interested, you will need to apply online. Existing magnet students and students who have completed the first 2023-2024 application cycle and have accepted an offered seat will not be eligible to apply.

Recent News and Announcements

  • Second round magnet applications were accepted from Monday, May 9 through Friday, May 20. The application period has now ended.

  • Wednesday, May 18 was an asynchronous day for BTW Magnet students in grades 9, 10, and 11, due to graduation being held off campus at True Divine Baptist Church. This was not a holiday. All underclassmen were to work virtually from home that day and not report to campus.

  • Tryouts: Basketball and Cross Country
     
    High School Boys Basketball Tryouts were held on Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3 from 4:00-5:30 PM at the Hayneville Road gym.  Any interested student should have a current AHSAA physical on file in BTW Magnet Dragonfly or with Coach Smith prior to tryouts.
     
    High School Cross County Tryouts were held on Thursday, May 5 from 4:00-4:45 PM at ASF Park in the center field (our normal location).  Any interested student should have a current AHSAA physical on file in BTW Magnet Dragonfly or with Mrs. Gravatt prior to tryouts.
     
    Students who attended BTW, Baldwin, Floyd, or Johnnie Carr Magnet are eligible to play at BTW Magnet next season IF they have been accepted and qualify academically and for magnet qualifications.
     
  • The week of March 21 - 25 was spring break. Students and faculty returned to campus on Monday, March 28.

  • 3-12-cleanup

  • Monday, February 21, 2022 was an asynchronous day for MPS students. Teachers reported to campus, while students were to be virtual (online). This was a regular school day, not a holiday.

  • All MPS schools, including BTW Magnet, conducted learning virtually during the week of January 17 - 21. Monday, January 17 was a holiday, and classes were held remotely on Tuesday through Friday that week. Though the building was closed, classes were still in session.
