I am Principal Robinson! I am a native of Montgomery, Alabama and I have served as the principal of Garrett Elementary School for two years. I have worked in education for 19 years while serving children at Brewbaker Primary, Highland Avenue, and MacMillan International Baccalaureate previously. I have had the pleasure of impacting the lives of others as a teacher, reading specialist, and assistant principal, and principal. 

I am a proud graduate of Alabama State University and Auburn University of Montgomery.   

My educational philosophy is anchored in understanding "Children do not care how much you know; until they know
how much you care.

I would describe my leadership style with three words, "humility, love and encouragement".

Mrs. Barbara Sankey- Assistant Principal

Hello! I am Barbara Sankey, an Assistant Principal at Garrett Elementary.

I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama and have earned degrees from Auburn University-Montgomer in biology and a Master’s in Secondary Education.

I have previously taught in Dallas County and Lowndes County before moving back to Montgomery, where I have served as a teacher, Schoolwide Instructional Assistant, Principal and now, Assistant Principal.

This is my 4th year at Garrett.

Mrs. Jasmine Deese- Assistant Principal

My name is Jasmine Deese, and I am so excited to be a Garrett Gator!

I was a classroom teacher for 8 years before transferring to Garrett as the ARI Literacy Specialist for the 2021-2022 school year. I now serve Garrett Elementary as the second Assistant Principal.

I earned my Bachelor's Degrees from AUM in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.  I earned my Master's Degrees in Elementary Education and Instructional Leadership from UWA. 

I have been married for 6 years, and we have a 4-year-old little boy who keeps us so busy!  My husband is the owner and operator of one of the largest game bird farms in the Southeast.  In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and being outdoors.
