Welcome from Ms. Ethel O. Greene, Interim Principal
Ms. Ethel O. Greene, Interim Principal at Carver Elementary and Arts Magnet
School has served some 40+ years in the educational arena in numerous capacities as a
classroom science teacher/Mentor Teacher in Anne Arundel County, Maryland and
Washington, D.C. Public Schools for 11 years, as the Secondary Science Curriculum
Specialist and 21 st Century Science and Math Program Co-Director, and Assistant Principal
of three DCPS Schools. Ms. Greene spent 11 years as Principal in two State of AL School
Systems (Macon and Montgomery). She has also taught in Clayton County, GA, Atlanta
Public Schools, and Fort Bend County, TX. Following retirement from DCPS in August 2015,
she moved back to AL and has since served as a substitute Principal and Assistant Principal
at several Montgomery Public Schools for the past 6 years. She also served as a GEAR-UP
Alabama Site Facilitator at University of AL Birmingham for Macon and Bullock County
Schools for 4 years, followed by being assigned as Interim Principal at George Washington
Carver Elementary and. Deborah Cannon Wolfe Elementary in Macon County, most
Mrs. Greene earned her M.A. degree from University of Maryland Baltimore County
(UMBC) and her Bachelor of Science degree from Tuskegee Institute (now University). She
is the proud mother of two lovely daughters and one handsome son, as well as “Grammy”
to one grandson and three granddaughters. She is a consummate learner and tries to learn
something new each day. She loves children, turning on light bulbs and seeing them shine
forth in the future. She also maintains membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The
Continental Societies, Inc., and Jack and Jill of America.
Mrs. Greene looks forward to serving the Carver Elementary and Arts Magnet School
to fidelity and continuing the great traditions established by former leaders here in this
wonderful school community.
