Substitute teachers are employed on a day-to-day basis, based on need. In order to be a substitute, one must hold at least a high school diploma (or a GED). After all application information has been received, including references, etc., a screening interview will be scheduled by the Office of Human Resources. Upon receipt of a background clearance, applicants are taken through an orientation/training session before placement. Note: “If you are a current Montgomery Public Schools employee, you DO NOT need to fill out an application. Simply forward a letter of interest and a copy of your resume to the Department of Human Resources.† SUBSTITUTE TEACHER APPLICANT’S GUIDELINESPLEASE READ:If you do not hold a valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate you must obtain a Substitute Teacher's License. The issuance of the Substitute Teacher's License requires a non-refundable fee of $30.00. The fingerprint process is outsourced through UPS sites. The non-refundable fee is $54.15. Please allow up to 12 weeks from the date you submit your application to be called for an interview due to the number of applications submitted. Fees will be discussed during the interview process. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis. Currently Montgomery Public Schools is not hiring additional substitute teachers. Applications will be filed and reviewed as needed for a period of two years after the application has been received. A new application must be submitted after the two year period to be considered for employment as a substitute teacher. 1. Please complete:  Application for Substitute Teacher (Both sides) **Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry Clearance Form  **Authorization and Agreement for Background Check  NOTE:  If you download the application and reference forms from our web site, you must come in person to complete these two forms:  **Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry Clearance and **Authorization and Agreement for Background Check. 2. You are required to provide proof of education, i.e., a copy of your G.E.D, High School Diploma, College Degree, or Transcript.
