Magnet Program

The first magnet lottery runs for each grade span are as follows:

Grades K-1 will run Tuesday, April 28

 Grades 2-5 will run Wednesday, April 29

 Grades 9-12 will run Wednesday, May 6

Grades 6-8 will run Thursday, May 28 

Updates will be provided as they become available.

 Current magnet students, as it is with all students, should continue to work. The final decision of whether a student will get to remain or not in his or her magnet school will be made after the end of the school year.


Due to COVID-19 and limited office staff, only those parents who did not provide an email address at the time they applied will receive a notification in the mail.

Terms to know:

Ineligible: Your child did not meet the minimum criteria required by the school(s) her or she applied.  Specific information about the eligibility requirements can be found in the magnet handbook.  You can access the magnet handbook from the Montgomery Public Schools Home page/For Parents/Magnet/Magnet FAQs or by selecting the link below:

Awarded a conditional offer:  Your child has met the criteria required by the school(s) where he or she applied.  Students must maintain the GPA and conduct/discipline record during the second semester of the current school year (2019-2020).  Failure to maintain the GPA and/or discipline for the current school year will result in loss of eligibility.  For final determination, each school will use the final report card for the 2019-2020 school year.

 Waitlist:  Your child met the minimum requirements but was not selected for a spot.  Your child will remain in the pool of eligible students should additional seats become available and another lottery run is needed for the 2020-2021 school year.
