Career Tech Student Organizations

Co-curricular activities relating to CTE through nationally affiliated student organizations are an integral part of classroom instruction in each CTE program. The focus of these organizations is to help students develop an understanding of all aspects of industry and technology in their program area, while learning teamwork and leadership skills. Student organization goals:

  • Develop individual potential.
  • Develop effective leadership and citizenship skills through social, economic, scholastic, and civic
    activities.
  • Increase knowledge and understanding of an ever-changing society.
  • Assist in the exploration of occupational choices.
  • Participate in career development events.
  • Serve the school and community through student organization projects.

ACAAlabama Career Association is a student organization providing an opportunity for career awareness, career preparation, and career exploration in the world of work. Members of this organization are students in the Jobs for Alabama Graduates (JAG) program.

DECA-An Association of Marketing Studentsis a national student-centered educational/professional organization with a program of leadership, career, and personal development designed specifically for students enrolled in business/marketing education.

FBLA-Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambdais a national association for students of the business/marketing program. The student organization enhances classroom instruction, develops leadership skills, and provides opportunities for professional growth and service.

FCCLA-Family, Career and Community Leaders of Americais a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education.

FFA-Alabama FFA Associationis a national organization that expands the opportunities in leadership and agriscience skill development for students in public schools. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agriscience education.

HOSA-Health Occupation Students of Americais a national organization that provides opportunities for students to develop leadership, civic, and employability skills. Participation in this pre-professional organization emphasizes the importance of membership in professional organizations as students enter the workforce.

SkillsUSA-An Organization for Students in Technical, Skilled and Service Careersis a national organization for students enrolled in occupational programs in technical, skilled, health, and service occupations. The members are trained in effective communication and management skills, teamwork, networking, workplace ethics, interviewing techniques, and other skills designed to help students succeed.

TSA-The Technology Student Associationis a national organization devoted exclusively to the needs of elementary, middle, and high school students with a dedicated interest in technology. Alabama TSA is an integral part of the instructional career technologies program. Students practice leadership, career awareness, service, and problem solving while developing technological literacy.
