Johnnie Carr Middle School student Anmol Guard has won a National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Silver Medal.
Anmol was the only middle school student in the state to be named a National Medalist. She received the Silver Medal for her poem “The Slum.”
The national award comes after winning three Region-at-Large awards. She won a Gold Key for “The Slum” as well as a Silver Key in Flash Fiction for “India” and Honorable Mention for the Short Story “Saffron.”
Nearly 340,000 students submitted works to the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. National Medalists are recognized at the national ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
