Proposed New Zones by School

 

The Montgomery County School Board is considering a proposal is to move 101 students currently zoned for Carr Middle School to Goodwyn Middle School. This will shorten the distance these students travel to school by 4.4 miles. Currently the proposed students to be rezoned are traveling 7 miles to Carr Middle School and the distance to Goodwyn would be 2.6 miles. The major roads affected by this rezoning are, Central Parkway, Young Farm Road, E. Trinity Blvd., Carmichael Road, and Gatewood Dr. The boundaries are Perry Hill Road, Vaughn Road, I-85, and the Eastern Bypass.

The Board is also considering a proposal is to move 32 students currently zoned for Goodwyn Middle School to Capitol Heights Middle School. This will shorten the distance these students travel to school by 1 mile. Currently the proposed students to be rezoned are traveling 3.5 miles to Goodwyn Middle School and the distance to Capitol Heights would be 2.5 miles. The major roads affected by this rezoning are, Coliseum Parkway, Gardendale Dr., Gardendale Dr. E. and Chisholm St. The boundaries are Federal Dr., Emory Folmar Blvd., Northern Bypass, and Fairground Road.
